MATERIAL FOLKLORE

Costuming and makeup are near-universal across the spectrum of drag. Heavily subjective and individually influenced, the makeup and costuming of each performer are unique, with each drag artist often utilizing signature looks and styles. It is common for drag artists to design and create their clothing.

Additionally, the role of the drag parent includes the passing of knowledge onto their chosen children and family members. This includes makeup techniques as well as costume pieces and the knowledge of how to style wigs.
